WGM S Meenakshi went down to 3rd seed GM Jones Gwawain. WGM Swati Ghate played a good game but in the end agreed for a draw against a much higher rated GM Pablo Lafuente.

After 5 rounds the championship is now jointly led by top seed Nigel Short, IM Sahaj Grover, GM Jones Gawain, FM van der Nat Nicholas and CM Oatlhotse Providence. Sahaj Grover will meet Nigel Short in the 6th round.
